A painting I made during the Covid-19 Pandemic. This painting was actually inspired by a meme and spurred by the desire to create a work of art related to some elemental subject matter (ie water or air)
I didn’t realize it at the time but this work also feels very related to the restrictive times and everyone I knew were stuck in.
What I love most about this piece is not the use of color, or the composition, or the interesting inspiration (though I do love all of those things).
For me, it is the feeling of freedom this work gives its viewer. Not only does this work showcase the great wide open world around a small isolated figure, it also will provide its viewer with a syompathietic response in not only feeling the shock and exhalation on the expression but the feeling of wind and the grandeur of the wide open sky.
